Cutest Sound Men Ever!

So my brother Brian is the Technical Arts Director for his church and I love him and he does an amazing job, but I have to say no amount of "Haze" effects in the sanctuary will ever top the cuteness of these two sound men working and singing along!!
I mean just look how cute they are!

They aren't even watching each other and they are totally dancing the same way!

And then when Bennett hold the mic for Adam to sing ... it just kills me!

The Elbow Journey

AKA. Adam's Wenis Removal (as his students like to say)

I think it's safe to say that Adam's elbow journey has come to an end!
But here's where it started...

Adam has gout {sad but true} and sometimes when you have gout you get tophus {or tophi when it's plural}. Unfortunately, Adam has tophi in both elbows, his hand and left big toe. Well, actually, now he just has one little one in his right elbow because this is the story of the left elbow tophus' eviction!

I honestly can't remember when it started, but probably 6 months ago Adam's "Gout Ball" {as it was affectionately known around our house} on his left elbow started getting bigger and yucky-er. So after a number of doctor visits and a whole lot of bandages and blood and just plain oozing {seriously, it was so gross!} surgery was scheduled for the morning of  September 28th.

In the car on the way to the surgery center
(we took "head on" pictures too, but the thing was kind of open and the pictures are WAY too gross to put on here!)
In the waiting room.
See how big it was just sticking off his elbow!
As we were waiting Bennett accidentally knocked and it totally started bleeding - YUCK!

The surgery was actually really quick, but they did knock him out because they said, "In case we open it up and we have to dig in the muscle, we want you to be asleep."  {SO GROSS!!!} Anyways, Adam was home by 10 am and he was just a "happy, hungry little stoner" with all the drugs still in him but around noon'ish {after eating like a teenage boy} he pretty much passed out and slept for like 5 or 6 hours.
Here he is that night putting on a nice smile for his crazy wife :)
That first "nap" {drug induced coma} after surgery was Adam's last time sleeping in bed for about a week and a half... he didn't want to accidentally bump his elbow by rolling over so he just slept on the couch where he literally wasn't able to roll over.
Here he is sleeping on the couch and "spooning" the iPad his school lent him for his recovery since he was one handed
... pretty sweet "get well" present if you ask me!
Due to the pain meds Adam was on, he wasn't supposed to drive so for the the next week and a half Bennett and I drove him and picked him up from work everyday.
Bennett LOVED going to "Dad work" and has actually been very sad since we've stopped.

Adam's hand ended up getting really swollen from lack of circulation with his elbow in the sling for 8 days ... poor guy.

8 days after surgery it was time for the "unveiling" {we were told to not touch the bandages and we were good and followed directions} so we went into the surgeons office to take a look.
Fresh out of the gauze
Bennett enjoying the doctor's visit and his Daddy's new toy!
After the doc looked at it and said no heavy lifting for 3 weeks, the nurse came in and took the stitches out and for a couple days he had these little strips on his elbow, but they fell off pretty quickly (a day or two)

He had his last follow-up appointment with the orthopedic surgeon this past thursday and all is well!

His hand is still having a bit of a "being able to make a fist" issue, {as in he can't do it completely} but the doctor said that's normal for up to 8 - 10 weeks post surgery and he was happy with how the elbow looked. So other than keeping stuff on it to help the scar heal up nice clean we are pretty much done with this journey which is nice considering we are just 6 weeks aways from baby time! {yikes! we really need to pick a name!}

Tent boy

So, I wasn't in the room for this but my understanding is that while Adam was making the bed, Bennett got on it and said he wouldn't get off because he wanted Adam to make a tent. Sooooo, Adam, being who he is, just kept on making the bed. All I got was a hand motion from Adam of "come her quickly" and I grabbed the camera on the way .... this boy is just too much!

Bed

So I guess this could have been included in my birthday blog but that was already way too long and this needed to be highlighted with it's own blog because it is just that amazing!

Adam told me about a week before my birthday that he had decided he was going to make me something for my birthday but that we wanted to show me a picture of it first to make sure I liked it. So I told him it was okay if he broke the surprise early and he pulled up a website and showed me a really pretty bed frame. He said the site had all the direction on how to make it yourself and that the cost was estimated at only $80 (which I might add was not the REAL total. I think the website was using wood prices from the 1950's)

Anyways, after getting all the wood, he set off to working in the garage ....

A couple weeks later while I was gone at discipleship I came home and this is what my bedroom looked like! Pretty rad huh?!
(adam made the picture a few years back)

I love having a husband who can build stuff and I love that he can find awesome projects online so that we get this amazing bed for what would have been at least $1300 from Pottery Barn

Father's Day 2011

Yeah, so remember how Father's Day was like a month ago ... oh well, don't judge!

June was a blur and well 2 days after Art Camp ended all of a sudden it was Father's Day but despite my lack of planning we all did have a really nice day together!

Bennett got in some good bath time play and snuggles with his dad before church...
Bennett loves his dad so much!
... and then after church we went to breakfast at Richies! It was rather busy at Richies on Father's Day so we had plenty of time for playing in the bushes and then opening Daddy's present from Grandma before we ate.

Breakfast was fabulous and sickening all at the same time, as usual, and we loved every bite! :)

Weird-o's (like father like son!)
After naps we headed over to my mom and dad's house to have a big family dinner with my Aunt and Uncle who were down for a visit (and two cousins too) However, I sort of forgot to take any pictures of any of the fun we had with them ... well, I did manage to get one of the sweetest little post-bath tracker riding cousin!

Happy Father's Day to all you dad's out there, sorry it's a month late! :)

The Right Motivation

If you hadn't noticed ... Bennett's hair was getting super cute and curly.

But to Adam it was getting super long and well... I trusted my husband when he said he would shave Bennett's head when he shaved his own after graduation. (Adam's a teacher and keeps his hair "normal" for the school year, but likes it shaved for the summer)

Knowing that I would be in Cabo, Mexico while Adam was at graduation I knew I would be powerless to stop him so two days before I left, I soaked my son's head, let him pick a movie to watch on my laptop, set him on the changing table AND gave him a Trader Joe's lollypop!

Things were going well for about 15 minutes, but soon we had a screaming crying baby as he realized his hair was laying all around him. As he tried to pick it up he got it all over his lollypop which again made things worse!  Here's the after math...

But the next morning (as he was asking for 3 types of cereal in his bowl) I realized his hair turned out pretty cute!

And FYI, Adam kept his promise and since Bennett's hair wasn't "too long", only Adam's head was shaved when I got home from Mexico! THANK THE LORD!!!!

Adam's 30th!!!!

My dear sweet husband turned 30 this past Sunday and we had a great time celebrating him!

Unfortunately I got some sort of 24 hour bug and/or the baby rejected our yummy Indian food dinner on saturday night so I spent his birthday with massive stomach pain and all the yucky-ness that comes with the flu. It was not pleasant!

I was soooooooo disappointed too because I thought we would have the funnest day as a family, instead Adam went to church by himself, Bennett was picked up at 8am by my mom and spent the entire day with her and I stayed in bed until 3pm when I drug myself out of bed to take a shower.

Lucky for us, Adam's mom goes to our church and she was already planning to spend the afternoon with us so she took Adam out to lunch and then took him shoe shopping!

So once Adam got home and he saw just how sick I really was, he set into to getting ready for his party that was at 5 (that I should have been preparing for all day!)  My lovely neighbors pitched in and Adam went and picked up the hot wings and my mom came and picked me up and remarkable the house was perfectly ready and there was no sign of sickness when the first guest arrived at 5!

Adam is totally a quality time guy, he doesn't care if you get him a birthday present, but he does care that you take time to spend with him. So seeing how he is a crazy busy man who hardly ever gets a moment off from working and has even less time to see friends, I planned him a "Man Night" for his birthday! (which worked out awesome since I didn't have to be there!) 11 guys came over and they all just sat around and ate and talked and played Halo and Risk and I don't know what else... but I do know the last guys left at 1:30 am so I'm taking it as a success! (Bennett and I spent the night at my mom's)

Here's all 5 (yep, 5 total!) pictures that were captured of Adam's 30th Birthday:

Glory be to God, I woke up Monday morning and I felt great! Either the bug or all the Indian food had finally all left me and I was good as new! I was very thankful because Monday morning was the family breakfast at Richie's Diner (fun and random tradition in my family) for Adam's birthday!

After a yummy breakfast of food that no one should eat for breakfast on a regular basis, we moved on to our next birthday activity, Kung Fu Panda Two!

It was totally great and it was Bennett's first time going to the movies - ever!
He got some celebratory "Pop-Pop" due to the occasion!

He didn't make it thru the whole movie and I had to stand with him while walked up and down the stairs 8,000 times but he passed out with about 30 minutes left, poor guy, he has no closer to the movie!

After the movie we took my brother Casey home (it was about 1pm at this point) and ended all taking naps and staying for spur of the moment BBQ with my parents!

Despite my sickness, I know Adam had a great birthday weekend and I am sooooo thankful for everyone who helped and came and celebrated and loved him!

Deeper

I really don't love Adam more than the day I married him, but I do love him deeper than the day I married him.

I love him fuller! I love him four more years complete than when we married.

I love more of his yucky-ness than I realized he had four years ago but I also love more of his Godly-ness than I ever knew he had or that anyone was capable of.

Happy Anniversary my love, here's to another year of going deeper into this mystery the Lord calls marriage!

Celebrating!

We went to a bouncy birthday party for our friend Makenna and again,
Bennett had a super great time!
I love when you can tell he's saying "cheese"!

I can not get enough of this picture!
I just love them so much!

Look how cute he was eating his pizza!

Happy Birthday Makenna!
(sorry we didn't actually take a picture of you!)
