Elwer Update

So I thought I would update you all on our life as the past week or so has been a little nuts!

First, cloth diapers, still doing well and I think we are officially sold on them. We have traveled to church and ran errands and gone about life... all in cloth! (and they are just so cute too!)

Second, in light of our little man being able to roll over, he is just becoming more mobile all the time! The other day I put him in his crib for a nap (the first time ever sleeping in his "big boy bed") as you can see in the first picture. But when I went in to get him, he had been on the move!
Third, Adam's knee! Oh my goodness! This is the part that has made life a little nuts! We thought he had just hurt it a little bit but after x-rays and blood test and a week of no work we officially know that Adam has gout! He's not fully done with this flare up, however it has started to go down, and he is using a wheelchair at work so that he does not put any unnecessary strain on it. We have a long road ahead of us for healing/management which unfortunately could mean more diet restrictions for Adam to help keep the gout under control. As you might have guessed a week out of work with a bum knee resulted in a lot of laying on the couch and bed with ice packs and heating pads rotating, but Bennett still needed some dad time when Adam could manage it. Bennett loves Adam so much - it's pretty sweet!

That's all for the updates, but I figured I would share the dorky thing I did last week! (Bennett got his in a box of hand-me-downs and I couldn't resist)
And last but not least, I think this shirt pretty much sums it up!

Two years ago today!

A lot of things have changed in the last two years, but a lot of things have not!

Two Months

Today is my two month birthday and I just though I should give a little shout out to all my peeps out there in the internet.

So mama and papa have been noticing this wiggle thing I do that looks like crawling but they never let me go places. They also saw me after I had turned about halfway around in my crib the other day. But I got them with this new thing I did. Check out the video, kiddos.

Ahoy I roll!

Bennett says "No"

So yesterday while waiting at the doctors Adam was saying something to Bennett (we weren't going to decorate his room like a circus) and shook his head "no" at Bennett. Bennett looked right beck at him and started to shake his head no just like Adam. So Adam did it again, and Bennett did it again. Then Adm shook his head "yes" and Bennett didn't do so hot with that one, it kind of looked like a head roll, but then Adam shook is head no again and Bennett did it again! And then I got my camera out to try and record it - here's what we got, it's not as great as the first time but nonetheless, it's cute!

Last Thursday we (Bennett and Sarah, Adam had to stay home because he has a hurt knee) went to Carlsbad  with Grammy and cousin Elizabeth! Bennett had never met his cousin before and he liked her a lot! So much so that he was totally okay with her pushing his stroller - he didn't cry once! We spent the afternoon at the Carlsbad Company Stores right at the base of the Carlsbad flower fields. The fields are in bloom now and absolutely beautiful! Elisabeth got to do a little shopping and was very happy to model the rings she got as soon as we got in the car!

This last picture is not from our day in Carlsbad but I just had to share it!
Last but not least, I mentioned it earlier, Adam had a hurt knee! We have no clue what is wrong with it but it has been getting worse since Wednesday! We are heading to the doctor in a few minutes and hopefully we can get some answers that will bring lasting health! Please be praying!

The Suit Has Been Filled!

So for Christmas "Baby Elwer" got new pj's like everyone else in the family:

Today the bear suit was finally filled by "Baby Elwer" (aka Bennett)

Bennett's First Easter (and a few other things)

First, for all our concerned readers, don't worry, the cloth diapers are going great! Really! There has not been one blow out or leak or anything! So that actually makes the cloth diapers better than disposable for us! The Elwer's love cloth diapers!

Okay, moving on, Bennett took his first bottle this week! We aren't doing formula, but we were glad that he actually was willing to do the bottle thing every once and a while because now Adam and I at least can have hope to some day go on date and not have to worry about our son starving while we are gone!
Bennett has been going through a growth spirt this week and has been sleeping a ton! It cracked me up that he fell asleep with his hand over his face!
And that brings us to Easter (or Resurrection Sunday or Pascha... whatever you call it). Bennett spent the whole Easter service on his dad!
We spent the afternoon at my parents with Adam's parent's too!

And then after our meal we went on a walk (there was a little spitting up issue so there was a clothing change) and Bennett got a new lamb friend from Grammy that he wanted to bring with him on the walk.

Entering Unknown Territory

I just put Bennett down for a nap in his first ever cloth diaper - we will see what happens.

Family Update!

So, the Elwer family has had a lot going on in the past week or so. Last Thursday, the 26th, "Uncle Andy" came out from Georgia to meet Bennett. It was great to have Andy come hang out! He and Bennett got along very well (as you can see below) and Bennett even shared his room with Andy - not that Bennett has ever slept in his room, but he was more than happy to share anyways! The only sad part was that Andy's trip to CA was only 46 hours long! Hopefully he will get to come back soon!

The day after Andy left the Elwer family all got a cold! So we did a lot of movie watching and resting for about 3 days straight. Adam had to pull himself out of bed everyday and still go to work because he took all his sick days when Bennett was born, so his cold lasted a few days longer then Sarah and Bennett's cold, but he's feeling better now.

As far as Bennett goes, he was a trooper through his first cold! Sleeping was difficult but he pulled through with the help of the humidifier! Bennett is becoming more and more his own person. He's taken to smiling at people and things and it is now very noticeable if he likes what he is doing or not! He loves his bouncy seat because it gives him time to chat with his friends the bears. He is also very happy that Mommy and Daddy decided to start using the swing because he loves to chit-chat with his toys in there, as well as sneak in a quick nap! We have also had some much more favorable experiences with the bath! He loves it up until the point where he starts to get cold when he's getting rinsed off.
A few firsts we had this past week were: first time in a baseball hat and first time in overalls! Both went over very well, not that you can tell from the baseball hat picture, but he was just hungry and not wanting to be photographed at the moment.
