Nothing

It's so funny how you can get so busy doing "nothing".
I need normal, and I have no such normalcy in my life right now, thus blogging has just gone out the window. But Bennett is sleeping in this morning and I woke up early thus I am squeezing one in now :)

Apparently Bennett needs normal too, this is how he came out of his room the other day, clearly the child is board out of his mind

Doing "nothing" at Grammy's house

Doing "nothing" does involve reading, so I guess that is good.
(I just finished The Year of Living Biblically, by AJ Jacobs - I would highly recommend it!)
(Oh and by the way, the cushions on the rocker are the sewing project I completed the other day, I bought this fabric when Bennett was 8 days old... don't judge. I finished it.)

When it randomly starts to thunder and lightning at your house and you have to go inside to once again, to do "nothing", you of course have to make a puzzle for the first time

And then when your mom and dad won't give you a brother or sister you have to do "nothing" and play with your favorite toy (a dancing duck that sing "If you're happy and you know it") and give him hugs to ease away the boredom.

Another "nothing" we have been doing a lot is going on walks. The other day Bennett got to take Tony on a walk, he was very happy about this, I'm sure it wasn't nothing to him.

Bennett relinquished is leash holding duty about half way around the block and decided to show of his skills in barking... he his pretty stink'n cute!

We're enjoying our "nothing" days a lot, hope you all are too!

Saturday in San Diego

Really, what could be better? I know Disneyland is "the happiest place on earth" and don't get me wrong, I LOVE Disneyland, but for me I would pick San Diego any day over Disneyland! It just makes me happy. It's beautiful, the people are nice, it's always a perfect temperature... you just can't go wrong with it!

So, this last saturday we packed up with Grandma and headed down for a day of fun!

First stop, Seaport Village for some nice views, good coffee and fun stores!
"Grandma" even bought a hat at the worlds best hat store!

When we got to the zoo we had to ride the train first (since we missed it last time) Bennett really enjoyed it!

We started out our day looking at "desert-y" type stuff...

... and then moved on to the children's zoo (much more to my liking!)
(Have you EVER seen a cuter caterpillar?!)

He was just talking away to the ponies! (I think the taught they were the one's from our house!)

After a good hand washing and our first ever trip on the "sky-fari" ...

... we made it to the polar bears!
(Check out the drool!)

Bennett loved sitting in the helicopter!

We of course had to make it to the elephants and monkeys (the zoo's just not complete with out them!

...but Bennett never actually got to see the monkeys

So we called it a day and headed to Buca di Beppo's because we had a coupon!YAY!!!

So, judging from the fact that we had yet another perfect day in San Diego, it is still the Elwer family's "Happiest Place On Earth!"

Bennett's New Ride!

The other night Adam, Bennett and I had gone over to my parents house to swim and have dinner. My brother Casey wanted to go to Youth Group so as my mom was leaving to take him she asked if Bennett wanted to ride in the car with her. Adam and I were like "Heck yeah!" and quickly loaded up B and then enjoyed eating dinner together with no baby!

A few minutes before they returned, there was a knock and a door bell ring. Adam and I thought that was kind of strange and I made him to answer the door! Well, when he did there was no one there but there was a freshly washed, slightly used Little Tikes Cozy Coupe! It had a sign, but we had no clue who the people were! As soon as Bennett got back he got right in and basically hasn't gotten out since!
(We also found it was from my mom and dad's next door neighbors ... Adam and I just didn't know their last name)

And then the next morning when Grammy and Grandpa brought it to our house he was still beside himself with joy!

And it now is in our house due to the heat outside this week ... oh well, you just can't separate a boy from his first car! :)

Backyard Fun!

We have a great backyard!
It's perfect for kids to play in!
Bennett has been spending a lot of time back there recently (especially with all this mild weather! This is my kind of summer!) and the other day, thanks to our neighbors, he discovered a new joy in life: the slip-n-slide!

He never actually "slipped" or "slided" but he walked and touched and sat down in and climbed over to his hearts content (thanks E and A for being so sweet to let B play in between your slipping and sliding!)

While I was sewing yesterday (more to come on that later) Adam took Bennett in the backyard and came back with a couple very cute videos of backyard fun - enjoy!

(i love that he is just running in circles!)
