Big, Big Day!

So it's been a long time coming (ya know, like 2 years) but we finally did it! We dedicated Bennett to the Lord, prayed him in some God-Parents and Baptized him!
All on the same day!!!
It was a full day but it was a really, really special and fantastic day too!

The last time Bennett went before the church was his first time ever being there. Our pastor loves babies and always takes them up to show them off the first time they are in church and then prays a blessing over them. It's a very sweet tradition.

Our son, however, left his mark on Pastor Gary... Opps!

This time there were no bodily fluids involved and things went pretty smoothly!  We had to be at both services because Gary spoke on Deuteronomy six...

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates..."

... and then we came up after he was done speaking.
(Bennett is smiling because he saw Evangeline in the audience)

Adam explained why we wanted to dedicate Bennett and why we wanted him to have God parents.

Then I prayed/read a blessing of dedication over Bennett that I wrote.

And then Adam prayed/read a blessing and commissioning over Glen and Koni, that he wrote.

Followed by Gary praying for us all.
Bennett was pretty ready to get off the stage by this point, but as soon as Gary started to pray he was perfectly still and quite. He's already so spiritual! :)
The whole thing, sermon and dedication, was recorded by the church, If you want to listen to it, click here, go to podcasts and Feb. 27th, 2010.

After church we headed home with "family" (by blood relation or heart relation) for the baptism. We had planned to have Pastor Gary come and baptize him but Gary had to be at a funeral in Yorba Linda so we had Glen do it instead. Which turned out to be great! I mean, how cool to have your brand new God-Father be the one to baptize you! It was pretty special!

After the baptism we all shared a fabulous Beef Stroganoff lunch of yummy-ness and had a great time spending time and playing with some of our favorite people on the planet!

We really are so blessed!
