Sad Eyes

We just got home from Bennett's two year check up...

There was some blood and a very, VERY unhappy little man.

He's watching Toy Story 2 with his grandma right now and things seem to be looking up...
...but there is still no smiling!

In other news, Bennett is a whopping 31 lbs 6 oz. (82%) and 35 3/4 inches tall (76%) with a 21 inche head (Umm, ... yeah, that's the 99th percentile there!)
Only four and a half more pounds till we can turn the boy around in the car
(I can't wait 'cause it will free up so much room in the car! But ... safety first! )

Holding Hands

So yesterday morning, my son kept trying to grab my hand.
Which is cute, right? Yeah, well, we had been eating oatmeal for about 10 minutes and you know for sure his hands had a good deal of oatmeal on them at this point. I kept saying, "No, you need to keep eating. We can wash your hands when you are done eating."  (thinking that he was asking to wash his hands)

After about the 3rd or 4th time of this little routine, I realized that each time he was grabbing my hand he was holding on tighter and tighter. It finally hit me! I said to him, "Do you want to pray?"

 "Yeah!"

I took both his hands and we held onto each other and prayed.
Thank you Lord for my sweet, sweet boy who wants to stop eating so that we can pray!

After we were done, Bennett looked up at me, smiled and clapped his hands! Then he went back to his oatmeal and finished his bowl like a champ! Good man!

If Bennett had his way...

.... we would have gone to church like this.

He didn't get his way.
But doesn't he look like the cutest little thing ever?!

Big, Big Day!

So it's been a long time coming (ya know, like 2 years) but we finally did it! We dedicated Bennett to the Lord, prayed him in some God-Parents and Baptized him!
All on the same day!!!
It was a full day but it was a really, really special and fantastic day too!

The last time Bennett went before the church was his first time ever being there. Our pastor loves babies and always takes them up to show them off the first time they are in church and then prays a blessing over them. It's a very sweet tradition.

Our son, however, left his mark on Pastor Gary... Opps!

This time there were no bodily fluids involved and things went pretty smoothly!  We had to be at both services because Gary spoke on Deuteronomy six...

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates..."

... and then we came up after he was done speaking.
(Bennett is smiling because he saw Evangeline in the audience)

Adam explained why we wanted to dedicate Bennett and why we wanted him to have God parents.

Then I prayed/read a blessing of dedication over Bennett that I wrote.

And then Adam prayed/read a blessing and commissioning over Glen and Koni, that he wrote.

Followed by Gary praying for us all.
Bennett was pretty ready to get off the stage by this point, but as soon as Gary started to pray he was perfectly still and quite. He's already so spiritual! :)
The whole thing, sermon and dedication, was recorded by the church, If you want to listen to it, click here, go to podcasts and Feb. 27th, 2010.

After church we headed home with "family" (by blood relation or heart relation) for the baptism. We had planned to have Pastor Gary come and baptize him but Gary had to be at a funeral in Yorba Linda so we had Glen do it instead. Which turned out to be great! I mean, how cool to have your brand new God-Father be the one to baptize you! It was pretty special!

After the baptism we all shared a fabulous Beef Stroganoff lunch of yummy-ness and had a great time spending time and playing with some of our favorite people on the planet!

We really are so blessed!

Saturday Morning Magic

Why is it that Saturday mornings are so magical?

When else do you get to use both movie blankets AND hold the remote?

Or when do you get to wear a cardboard barn on your head as a helmet?

Hope you all had a good weekend!

Celebrating!

We went to a bouncy birthday party for our friend Makenna and again,
Bennett had a super great time!
I love when you can tell he's saying "cheese"!

I can not get enough of this picture!
I just love them so much!

Look how cute he was eating his pizza!

Happy Birthday Makenna!
(sorry we didn't actually take a picture of you!)

Disneyland

So, this kind of got lost in the shuffle of Valentine's Day and Bennett's birthday and dedication but this is nothing to just gloss over ...
Adam and I went to Disneyland ALL BY OURSELVES!!!!

Here's why.
Some friends of mine from when I lived in Russia,
(Cam and Sonja)

...who Adam and I drove to Washington for their wedding,

...and who currently live in Australia, were here in California for 3 days and 3 days only and we got to spend a whole day with them at Disneyland! So besides getting to have a fun "grown-ups only" day we also got to spend time with some fabulous friends we haven't seen in a really long time!

Oh but first, let me just tell you how rad God is! We have zero money these days, seriously, zero. But my cousin just so happens to have a job that enables him to sign people into the big D for Free!!! So, yeah, we got in for free, YAY!!!

Cam was doing some serious celebrating!
The goal for the day was to go on rides that you can not go on while pregnant or with a small child!

Funniest picture of the day!

And basically we just acted like nuts all day!

Did you know you could get custom Disney pieces for your Mr. Potato Head Doll? Fabulous!
We even got to have a fancy grown up dinner at Story Tellers and no one threw food on the floor or cried during dinner! I was in heaven!

Then we stayed to see World of Color

Don't get me wrong, we were EXHAUSTED the next day (we're getting old!) but it was still so nice to get away for a day and remember, "Hey, I still love you!"
AND see old friends who we had a blast with!!!
