This was Bennett's first time celebrating Mother's Day! (Last year on Mother's Day I wasn't even pregnant). We had a great weekend of fun to celebrate!
Saturday morning Bennett took his mom, Grammy and Grandma to the Mother's Day Tea at church. It was a very lovely afternoon and Bennett enjoyed being the only boy there!
Well, he enjoyed it for a while and then he decided to fill his diaper to capacity and scream like a crazy man while sweet Amy Rogers was doing the devotion on highlighting God's hand at work in your children's lives - well at least that's what I gathered from the half I heard! Here's Bennett just as the tea was ending - he really does like his grandma, but he was just over it at this point!
Saturday night, due to life around a fireman's work schedule, we had a Mother's Day meal with my parents that consisted of them going to pick up PF
Changs take out and bringing it to our house! It was fabulous! After dinner we all sat around for a while and talked and watched Bennett engage in his new favorite past time -
gnawing on his daddy's finger! Yes, folks, we think he might already be teething! If the chewing wasn't a good enough sign the
fussiness and inability to stay asleep are also in full swing. We will see how this goes!
Oh and let's not forget my Dad's mother's day present to me! While at the tea
saturday afternoon, he washed my car and then came over on
monday and cleaned our garage so I could park the car inside!
YAY!!
Sunday morning my husband did a wonderful thing! He got up with Bennett at his usual 5 am time and let Bennett cry and spit up all over him and let me sleep until 8!
YAY!!! However sleeping until 8 when you leave for church at 9 makes for a rushed morning but nonetheless, I was
grateful for the sleep! At church I was the only person in the whole church service to stand up for having a first baby in the last 2 years! So, I won this amazing
arrangement of flowers that is still making my house smell lovely!
After church, Mary Beth came up to me and said, "I think your son has something for you" and in all my mommy glory I responded with, "What? Does he have a big bugger or did he blow out his pants?" She laughed and said I should go check:
Oh melt my heart, my little boy got me a card and wrote in it! :)
(Although his writing looks a lot like Adam's, if Adam had gotten a crayon out to write in a card with!)
We enjoyed an outstanding lunch at Flour Fusion in Old Town Elsinore with Roger and Mary Beth. I had a
truffled chicken pot pie with a hazelnut crust! I was in heaven! (and Bennett slept through the whole meal, so I actually got to eat it while it
was hot!) And then for dessert Mary Beth and I split this chocolate raspberry
layered cake that was so good and rich and wonderful we seriously couldn't finish it! Here's Bennett when he woke up, just as happy as can be!
After a diaper change and feeding, Adam, Bennett and I headed out to do a little mother's day shopping! I was gifted a gift card and cash and Adam offered to go shopping so off we went! It was a long shopping trip and sadly I never found the thing I was really looking for (a bathing suit - although I have since ordered one online, hopefully it gets here soon so I can try it on! I know, so risky to order a bathing suit online!) Bennett was quite the trooper and really did do a great job being good - but he hit the was and was just done for! But even when he is
exhausted, he's still so
stink'n cute!
My first Mother's Day was so great! I will always remember it!
