So, in trying to be a good responsible blogger, I waited until I had officially asked the parents of my newest favoritest littlest baby girl if I could blog about her.... it went something like this:
"So, I wanted to ask you first if it would be okay if I posted a blog about meeting your daughter for the first time?"
"Oh yeah, that's fine, I don't mind if you write a blog about her, just no pictures"
Bummer! At that point I decided just not to post a blog about her because who wants to read about a precious new born? People want to see pictures of a precious new born!
But it was such a fun day, that I have finally found a way to blog about it - Crop the baby out of every picture! :) So, here it goes:
After attending both showers for Katie and Edith...
And visiting on Saint Patrick's day (with Auntie and cousin too)...
... I got the text I had been waiting for from Auntie Maggie: Edith was born!!! I called Becky right away to see when she wanted to leave to go up there. She wanted to leave right that very second, but with husbands and Bennett in mind we decided over a few phone calls and texts to actually shower first and then we met up and car pooled out to Long Beach together! We are sooo green!
In the car we were trying to figure out what language we should use to welcome Edith with a sign we were making for her... once we got to the hospital Becky's suggestion became more more of an option (I had ruled it out since I didn't know how to spell it)
We walked in to the hospital, found the first elevator and went up to the room number he had received by text. (Illegal one year old and all! No one stopped us!) As the Grandparents were in the room saying their good byes (they had been there all night) the rest of us in the hall were trying to sneak peaks as people moved about in the room.
Once inside, Becky and Michael got to meet their god daughter for the first time
Bennett got to meet another young woman we would be very happy with him marrying! (He was rather excited, and has remanded very excited about her each time he's seen her since this day! It's kind of funny how much he likes her!)
Here's me holding her for the first time! (I also have the sweetest video of her making little baby noises)
The beautiful mother, just hours after giving birth, and me looking like a fool!
After a bit of talking and cuddling, we left to let the parents take a nap and we went to clean and decorate their apartment as well as fill their fridge with all sorts of things from Trader Joe's that are quick, easy and tasty!
We ate lunch, stopped and got the parents each lunch and headed back to the hospital to say our good-byes. This time we went in the "correct" door and someone told Adam not to take Bennett up there (but they didn't actually say it to me! Thus I did not brake an order from anyone... right? Right!) Anyways, we left reluctantly due to fear of traffic and Adam still had lesson planning to do for the next day (Yes, this all happened on a Sunday, and yes, we all skipped church!)
It was a long but wonderful day filled with friends and joy!
Edith you are the cutest little thing ever!
We are so glad you are here!
P.S. Just so you can imaging how cute she is, here are her beautiful parents:
(She has lots of hair! Imagine Tom with his hair sticking straight up ... yeah, it's kind of like that! It's precious!)
